Yaqin, al-

Certainty; certain faith. Muslim mystics often distinguish three ascending levels of certainty in spiritual matters: certainty based on proof, certainty derived from exposition, and certainty attained by direct vision or experience. The first level belongs to theologians, the second to gnostics, while the third belongs to those loving God alone.
