Egyptian liberal philosopher of positivism; writer and translator. Obtained a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of London in 1947 , then was a professor at the University of Cairo. Advocated the evaluation of the traditional Arab heritage in the light of modern scientific and rational thought.
