Maghazi

The military campaigns of the Prophet Muhammad . Writings about the maghazi are among the earliest records of the life of Muhammad. The Book of Maghazi, by al-Waqidi (d. 823 ), is a fundamental source of information about the life of the Prophet. Works on maghazi were important both as a source of the normative practice of the Prophet and in the development of Muslim theories on the conduct of war.
