    Banu Qurayza

    Prosperous Jewish tribe of Medina. Initially agreed to support Muhammad ; later negotiated with the Quraysh against the Muslims during the siege of Medina in 627 . As a consequence, the Muslims besieged them. Sad ibn Muadh , an ally of the Qurayza, ruled that their men should be killed and the women and children sold as slaves, with their property divided among Muslims.
