7. Articles and other Content Types
This site contains numerous types of reference articles and chapters, primary sources, images, chapters from the Qur'an, and more. There are many similarities and some differences in the way that they are displayed on the screen.
Depending on how you reached the content, you will see the Toolbar, with some or all of the following tools:
- Previous/Next Result: If you came to the page from a search results or browse list, you can use these links to navigate through the entries on your search results or browse list.
- Back to Results: Click the Back to Results button to return to your search results or browse list.
- Highlight On/Off: Use this button to show or hide search-term highlighting.
- Look It Up: Select any text in the article and click this button to start a new search on the selected text.
The Tool Bar also appears at the bottom of the article page.
Article/Chapter
Content Information
Fundamental information about the article or entry appears at the top of the left hand column of the page and includes:
- Title
- Author or Authors
- Content Source
Table of Contents
The table of contents or sections of a chapter or article appear, if applicable, in the left hand column. Click to jump to a particular section.
Bibliography
Bibliography entries are enabled for OpenURL and can be used to search your library's online catalog if the functionality has been activated by your library administrator. For more information on configuring OpenURL, refer to the FAQ.
Archived/Updated Articles
Many articles from the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamc World (OEMIW) have been updated for publication in the forthcoming Oxford Encyclopedia of the Islamic World (OEIW). When in the OEMIW article, a link to the primary article in OEIW will appear in the left hand column. When in the OEIW article, a link to the archived article from OEMIW will appear. Archived Articles are not included in Quick Search but can be selected to be included in advanced searches. Archived articles are included in the browse lists.
